Lafayette Youth Orchestra

The Lafayette Youth Orchestra consists of students of all grade levels including college  from 18 different schools in LaGrange and the surrounding area. Since the founding of the Lafayette Youth Orchestra as a full orchestra in 1997 by conductor Sam Lee, students from Troup County, Franklin, Manchester, Newnan, Warm Springs and Griffin, Georgia, and Valley, Alabama have participated. Selection is determined by auditions each fall for all instruments and levels of ability.

The number of student musicians averages between 60 and 70. Less experienced, yet serious minded string students may participate in the Apprentice String Orchestra. Student musicians who are more advanced might choose to participate in the annual concerto competition. Winners of the competition perform as soloists with the full orchestra.
